Mistral AI is rolling out major new features for its chat assistant, Le Chat.

Posted on July 16, 2025

Get ready for some exciting changes! Mistral AI, the popular European AI company, is gearing up to release a wave of powerful new features for its chatbot, “Le Chat.” According to recent reports and sneak peeks, the platform will soon get voice dictation, a special Research mode, and better ways to organize your chats with Projects and Memory support. These updates show that Mistral is serious about competing with big names like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

Let’s break down what’s coming.

Talk to Your AI with Voice Dictation

Mistral ai new feature

One of the most awaited features,

voice dictation, is expected to launch very soon on both the web and mobile versions of Le Chat. This feature will be powered by Mistral’s new “Voxtral” audio models. You will be able to simply talk to the AI, and it will type out your words for you.

Based on the preview, the interface looks very slick, with a cool wave animation that appears while you speak. This is a huge step forward for making the AI more accessible and easier to use, especially when you are on the go or prefer not to type. This brings Le Chat up to speed with other major AI assistants that already offer voice input.

Deeper Answers with the New ‘Research’ Mode

Mistral is also working on a powerful

Research mode designed to give you more detailed and structured answers. Instead of just a simple reply, this feature will help you with complex topics by breaking down the research process.

When you use the Research mode, the AI will first create a plan. It might ask you some follow-up questions to better understand what you need. Then, it will gather information and present it to you in a step-by-step format. While this feature isn’t available yet, it signals that Mistral wants to turn Le Chat into a serious tool for students, professionals, and anyone who needs to do in-depth research.

Stay Organized with ‘Memory’ and ‘Projects’

To make your experience more personal and organized, Mistral is introducing

Memory and Projects.

The

Memory feature, which is currently in an early “Alpha” stage, will allow the AI to remember details from your past conversations. This means the AI will get smarter and more personalized over time. Don’t worry about privacy, as you will have full control. You can turn the memory on or off for specific chats and manage what the AI remembers.

The

Projects feature will work like folders, allowing you to group related chats together. This will make it much easier to keep your work organized, especially if you use the AI for different tasks or topics.

These updates show that Mistral AI is moving fast to close the gap with its competitors. By adding these essential features, the company is making Le Chat a more complete and powerful AI assistant for everyone. While a release date for most of these features has not been announced, voice dictation is expected to arrive shortly.
